HOUSTON — Like a long-lost friend, after a long hiatus, roller derby has returned capture the minds of a new generation. With a boost from a new show on A&E, the sport is set to cash in on its newfound popularity. Grass-roots leagues are setting up across the United States, including Houston.

The Houston Roller Derby League began organizing in March of last year. Since then, the league has put together an organization and formed teams and plans are in the works to begin play this spring.
