Youth dominates at spring football games

Robert E. Lee football held its spring football game last week and the coaches saw a lot of positives from a young crew hoping to keep the momentum built from last year’s 7-3 record that included a trip to the Class 5A-I playoffs. (Submitted photo by Erny Calzoncinth)

Both the Robert E. Lee and Goose Creek Memorial football teams are coming off of memorable playoff seasons last fall and identically face some facelifts across a remodeled roster.

The Ganders and Patriots, which combined to go 13-7 combined and qualified for the Class 5A-I bi-district playoff round suffered a myriad of personnel losses on the offense side of the ball and enough on the defensive end to make both coaches Tim Finn and Shannon Carter use this year’s spring football sessions to  look for ways to keep their respective momentum going.
