The Baytown Charter Review Committee is recommending a charter amendment to City Council to allow voters to decide how long the mayor and council members should serve.

One proposal on the table concerns the mayor or council member serving three years, breaking for a term and then running again. If a council member serves three consecutive times, they could turn around and run for mayor. A mayor in the same position could run for council.
