They are everywhere now. The ubiquitous fast-food restaurants. Everyone accepts them as a common part of the landscape. But some of us remember when it was not so. We remember when going out to eat was a rare and special occurrence.

This has changed, just as other social mores have. Today, usually both parents work. Back in the day, Mom’s job was to take care of home and hearth. She did the cleaning, bought the groceries, did the laundry, ran errands, took care of the kids, and at the end of the day, cooked dinner for the family.
