As a genealogist, I have been following the pros and cons of tearing down statues, renaming facilities, and outright destruction of property. What has this accomplished? Germany did this at one time and has removed much history from their curricula.

We learn from our mistakes by preserving our history, whether our history was good or not. How do we make improvements if we do not know what we did wrong in the past? Destruction is not an improvement.
