Katherine Jane Allen

Katherine Jane “Mama” Allen was a descendent of slaves. She began her young life as a maid in the small farm town of Fierson, Louisiana.

At a very young age, she amazingly gave birth to five children and shortly after that relocated to Baytown. There she continued raising her children and then began raising several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and an entire community of children and their families in the once all-black community of McNair Station.
