While thousands of commuters clog the freeways of the Houston area, other commuters fill the marshes of Chambers County, as bird migration creates opportunities to see dozens of species of feathered flyers taking a layover in their seasonal trek.

International Migratory Bird Day is observed in North America, South America and the Caribbean. The Anahuac National Wildlife Refuge will mark the day with special activities at the refuge, 4318 FM 1985, from 10 a.m-2 p.m. Saturday.
