Harris County Sheriff Adrian Garcia and Harris County District Attorney Devon Anderson pet Buddy, a dog rescued in Crosby, after a press conference on Tuesday..

Nearly two years after dozens of animals were rescued near the Highway 90 San Jacinto River crossing – and dozens more found dead, some mutilated – Harris County District Attorney Devon Anderson called a press conference Tuesday to provide an updated report on efforts to combat animal cruelty and abandonment.

Anderson said the District Attorney’s Office became aware of the site about two years ago, before she was district attorney.
