Uncertainty continues to cloud the beginning of the school year with both Attorney General Ken Paxton and the Texas Education Agency issuing letters this week that contradict an order made by Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo delaying the start of in-person instruction and activities.

Hidalgo ordered that schools not re-open in person until at least Sept. 8, with the possibility of further extension. Extracurricular activities cannot start until in-person classes resume, according to the order.
