A crackdown on illegal street racers netted 43 arrests, one pursuit, vehicles towed and some weapons taken off the street.

Harris County Sheriff’s Office led the initiative with assistance from the Chambers County Sheriff’s Office and other agencies.

Is there a story here as to why Baytown PD was not notified of the joint effort between HC Sheriff's office and Chambers Co police to crack down on street racers? My residence is located next to Hwy 146 and I've called BPD numerous times about street racing which generally ties in with an event at the racetrack. I certainly don't know why BPD needs other police agencies to tell them when to stop dangerous streetracers. I called BPD and reported streetracers this past Saturday and asked for extra patrol through 9 pm. If BPD wants to know when to crack down on street racing all they have to do is read the events calendar on the racetrack's website.
