Barbers Hill ISD trustees Monday put their final stamp of approval on the tax abatement agreement that will pave the way for construction of an industrial project by ExxonMobil and a financial boon for the school district.

The 313 tax deal had already made it through preliminaries as district officials worked details out with ExxonMobil, followed by submission of the deal to the state comptroller’s office for approval, which was granted over the summer. Officials from the district and ExxonMobil ironed out the final details in the months since.
