Ninety-five seniors at Anahuac High School and seven seniors at Baytown Christian Academy became 102 brand-new high school graduates at commencement ceremonies held during the past weekend in and around Baytown.
The joyous occasions at Anahuac’s Kyle White Stadium and Baytown’s Memorial Baptist Church kicked off nine days of high school graduation events for about 3,000 young adults.
They will continue Tuesday through Saturday as Goose Creek CISD returns to Stallworth Stadium for five graduations and Barbers Hill and Crosby grads close out the week picking up their diplomas in their football stadiums Friday and Saturday.
Anahuac’s seniors combined to receive just over $300,000 in scholarship money and valedictorian Richard Tu paused in his speech to thank his family in Vietnamese, his native language.
BCA valedictorian Jackson Scott Murff directed his fellow graduates to “use our education and experience to create a better future for ourselves and those around us.”
