Ruth Alma Hester

Ruth Alma Hester 91, of Baytown, passed away Sunday, Feb. 7, 2010. She was born in Grant County, AR, on Sept. 24, 1918, to George and Vera Puckett.

In the 1930’s she and her family moved to Oregon. On Feb. 15, 1941, she married Fred Hester in Arkansas. In 1953, they moved to Highlands, and she worked for Sears in Baytown for 25 years. She loved to cook, can food and grow flowers and vegetables.

She is survived by her husband Fred “Jack” Hester of Baytown; children, Ervin and Nellie Hester of Katy, Bob Hester of Coldspring, Kathryn and Tex Follett of Mont Belvieu; grandchildren, Rita Bush, Craig and David Hester, Debbie Baker, Robin Kirkland and Tex Follett, Jr.; 10 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., on Tuesday, Feb. 9, 2010, at Earthman Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 10, 2010, in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery, 8624 Garth Rd.
