Glenn Arthur Rupert
Glenn Arthur Rupert, age 85, passed away peacefully at home on February 7, 2010 in Kingwood, TX. He was born in Oil City, PA on December 10, 1924 to John Reuben Rupert and Wealtha (Smoyer) Rupert.
After graduating from high school in 1942, Mr. Rupert served with the U S Army Engineers from 1943 to 1946, including two years in the South Pacific where he received three bronze stars. He was a graduate of Bryant & Stratton Business Institute in Buffalo, NY. On November 1, 1946 Glenn married Esther M. Swarthout of Oil City, PA. In 1957 they moved with their four children to Texas where he was employed in El Paso and Houston by El Paso Natural Gas Company and its affiliates for 26 years. He retired in 1983 in Crosby, TX and spent most of his time enjoying his hobbies of golf, traveling, photography, working on the computer, helping with his church, and spending time with his family and friends.
Glenn was preceded in death by his loving wife, Esther of 58 years, his parents, a brother, Paul H. Rupert and grandson, Glenn L. Rupert.
Survivors include a son David A. Rupert and his wife Barbara, of Spanaway, WA; and daughters Carolyn R. Thomas and husband Fred of Greenfield, IN, Margaret Pressler of Houston, TX, and Janet Morse and husband Kirk of Salem, OR; 5 grandsons, 1 granddaughter, one great-granddaughter, one great-grandson, and many nieces and nephews. Also surviving is a sister, Evelyn Rupert Heath of Rock Hill, SC, and two brothers and their wives, John and Pat Rupert of Seneca, PA and Dr. David and Lois Rupert of Fairfield Glade, TN.
Glenn was a member of Crosby and Kingwood United Methodist Churches, Masons, American Legion, VFW, and a life member of the Texas PTA. He had been active in various civic organizations, professional accounting and auditing societies, and numerous activities at his residence in Eden Terrace Retirement Community.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association or a favorite charity.
A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, February 8, 2010 at 3:00 PM at the Terrace Retirement Community, 929 Rocknead Road, Humble, Texas 77339.
