Sylvia Beatrice Gray Jones

The sun rose in Baytown, TX on March 30, 1962 bringing with it a new day and a new life. Sylvia Beatrice Gray Jones was born to Beverly and Sherman Gray, Jr.

Her formative childhood years were spent in McNair, TX. where she attended the local school and church. She was united in Holy Matrimony to Derrick Jones, Sr. To this union was born 3 children, Sjolanda, Sierra and Derrick, Jr.

She earned a Double Major Degree in Sociology and Psychology from the University of Houston, Clear Lake. She accepted Christ at an early age under the leadership of Sherman Gray, Jr. at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church.

On Monday, February 1, 2010, the Lord called upon Sylvia Beatrice Gray Jones, and she departed this life. Her passing brought sadness to the hearts of all who loved her.

To cherish her memories she leaves: Husband Derrick Jones, Sr., Daughters, Sjolanda Jones Callaham (Apollo) (Aalissah), Sierra Jones (Leania), Son, Derrick Jones, Jr., Mother, Beverly Gray, Father, Sherman Gray, Jr., (2) grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Sylvia’s services will be Sat. Feb. 6, 2010 @ Unity Missionary Baptist Church, 2625 Broad Street, McNair, TX. 77521. Visitation is from 9:30--10:30a.m. Funeral will begin at 11a.m. Bishop Sherman Gray, Jr., Officiating. Interment @ Evergreen Cemetery, Barrett Station, TX.
