Panther trio earns All-State honors

Anahuac defensive end Thaddius Johnson was a third-team pick and teammates Braxton Mayes and Zach Smith were honorable mention of the Texas Sports Writers Association Class 2A All-State football team released Wednesday night.
Johnson made 69 tackles for the 8-3 Panthers, including 17 tackles for losses and 14 quarterback sacks. He also recovered two fumbles.
Mayes, a wide receiver, caught 27 passes for 786 yards and 13 touchdowns. A defensive back, Smith was in on 107 tackles and broke up six passes.
All three players are seniors.
