Zink, Horne top 21-5A All-District

Baytown Sun Published November 26, 2009 Taylor Zink, a senior defensive specialist for Sterling’s District 21-5A champions, was named the Defensive Player of the Year on the All-District team for 2009.
Her Lady Rangers coach, Nadine Horne, was named Coach of the Year.
North Shore senior hitter Brittany Boyett was named Most Valuable Player and Channelview sophomore Mailica Fluellen earned Newcomer of the Year honors.
Baytown had several players who received all-district awards as they were named to the first and second teams for the district.
Sterling players named to the first team included senior Ashlee Hikes and sophomores Raegan Guidry and Lacey Crenshaw.
First-team picks from Lee were senior Deanna Hildebrand and sophomore Jackie Perez.
The all-district second team were also named to the first team.
The second team includes Sterling senior Denise White, junior Mykia Jackson and freshman Lillian Carroll. They’re joined by Lee juniors Jenny Epperson and Mary Grosjean.
Earning honorable mention from Sterling were seniors Courtney Minyard and Reciia Polydore, juniors Chrisse Coile and Megan Powell, sophomores GraceAnne Hanson and Brittany Partin and freshman Katie Tadlock. Zasha Henderson was honorable mention from Lee.
