Crosby, Dayton advance, Anahuac falls

The Crosby Cougars and the Dayton Broncos advanced to the next round of high school football playoff action with Saturday wins, while Anahuac's loss to Kirbyville Friday ended their season.

Crosby's 31-26 second-round Class 4A Division I playoff win over Montgomery was it's 10th straight win and the Cougars will face Pearland Dawson in a Region III quarterfinal game next Saturday at 2 p.m. at Deer Park's Abshier Stadium.

Dayton's 41-3 win over Waller in a Class 4A Division II area-round playoff at Leonard George Stadium advances the Broncos to the third round of playoffs. They play El Campo on Friday at 7 p.m. at Houston’s Tully Stadium.

Anahuac's 28-6 loss in Friday night’s Class 2A Division I regional game at Bronco Stadium ended its season at 8-3.
