The city of Baytown welcomes Altus Healthcare Management Services (AHMS) to the community and broke ground on a new partnership with the unveiling of the healthcare groups development plans on Tuesday.

“This celebration is a tribute to the collaboration it took to make this facility reality and speaks to the quality services the center is committed to delivering.” CEO of AMHS Taseer Badar said.

AHMS held a groundbreaking ceremony for the new Altus Baytown Medical Center (ABMC) located in the rear of Dow Medical. Mayor Stephen DonCarlos spoke to attendees about the need for unique out patient facility such as ABMC in Baytown.

“We are excited about the opportunities this facility will bring to our Community,” Mayor DonCarlos said. “I believe it will fill a very important gap in the Baytown medical community.”

Mayor DonCarlos was not alone in his opinion, City Manager Gary Brumback hopes the new center can be a beacon to attract more medical talent and facilities to Baytown.

“This is exactly the kind of development we are looking for,” Brumback said. “ This will not only enhance the quality of life for those who live here but it will also attract the kinds of businesses that create jobs.”

“Altus represents Baytown being recognized as a community deserving of its own self-sufficient medical system.”

In addition to Mayor DonCarlos and City Manager Brumback, District 4 City Councilman Terry Sain, Baytown Chamber of Commerce President Tracey Wheeler and several members of Chamber of Commerce were in attendance for the groundbreaking.

AHMS specializes in bringing state-of-the-art medical technology for out patient services to communities. AHMS partners with physicians who invest in each new facility, physicians such as these will staff the Baytown center.

“With out-patient services there are three winners,” Vice President and COO Kraig Killough said. “The patient being first, who receives a state-of-the-art facility; the physicians themselves can hang their hat on the ability to give good service therefore the company wins with its investment.”

AHMS has constructed two other facilities in Beaumont and Houston using the same developed ideology of the relationship between business and healthcare. The center plans to offer services in sleep study, imaging and Oncology.

“To say we’re proud of the new ABMC is an understatement,” Badar said. “Everything about this center underscores each member physicians commitment to offering the finest healthcare possible, whether it’s through Zerenity Sleep Center, Clarus imaging or Altus Oncology.”

ABMC plans to open its doors to the community in fall of 2010.

“ We are proud to be in Baytown and are excited about the amazing possibilities the ABMC will provide the Baytown residents but all patients in the region needing and seeking superior medical care.” Badar said.
