Rory Partin will get into the swing of things Friday with the Bayou Big Band and the Lee College Jazz Ensemble at the Lee College Performing Arts Center.

The Lee College Jazz Ensemble directed by Ken Booker and the Bayou Big Band directed by Dennis Eichler will be in concert Friday at 7 p.m.

The concert will feature nationally known recording artist Rory Partin.

“I’m pumped,” Partin said. “This is the first time I have played with a band that was not my own.”

Partin and his band performed for the 2000 Presidential Inaugural Ball for George W. Bush as well as at other venues such as the House of Blues, Ritz Carlton hotels, and several military bases in the United States and abroad.

The concert will consist of standards from Partin’s previous album and new original work from his upcoming project.

“My biggest influence is Ray Charles,” Partin said. “I love that blues rock sound and I’m excited to get to showcase that with some of the newer material.”

Admission to Friday’s concert is free and open to the public.
