Time for action

I agree with most of Mr. Odom's comments about the red lights in this town. It is ridiculous how long you have to wait at some lights even when there is no cross traffic. And they wonder why people run the lights!

With the technology available today, it is pitiful what we have to put up with. This, to me, shows the poor quality of the Traffic and Planning department and/or the City Management.

There have been hundreds of thousands of our tax dollars spent on "traffic studies" and all we got out of that is "red light cameras" to catch those frustrated Baytown drivers. If there was so much concern about the safety of intersections, lights should not turn green immediately after the cross traffic light turns red. There should be a few seconds of "all red" to give the greatest possible chance of a clear intersection. That is a true safety measure, it just doesn't make any money for the City.

Please, no more traffic studies, just positive and meaningful action. Take that "study money" and put up cameras that feed into a command center for an employee to cycle the lights based on the traffic needs. I would even pay a few extra tax dollars to see this implemented. How about taking the $2.50 you are for the blue plastic recycling buckets that we are forced to pay for even if we don't want it, and fund this traffic control idea?

A different America

It has come to light that portions of the proposed healthcare plan are hidden in the stimulus package, which has already been passed, and is currently law. Those who suggest we accept the healthcare plan as written tell us what is in it, and what is not.

How can we believe anything they tell us, after finding out they have already hidden information from us intentionally in the stimulus package? Also, they have admitted that failing to buy health insurance will land you in prison. This is not the America I was born into.

A thank you

It is true, Congressman Poe has voted no to tax increases and federal bail-out bills time and time again. Everyone that I know is exercising tight control over their financial matters during this recession, and I am glad that someone in Washington is listening to us and saying no!

Thank you for standing up and saying enough spending, borrowing and taxing. This healthcare legislation will create 111 new federal bureaucracies and cost taxpayers trillions of dollars. As a former business owner and lifelong Baytonian, I can fully understand the direct impact this will have on our community and its many small businesses.

Congressman Poe, thank you for consistently fighting against the seemingly endless government spending and intrusion into our lives. Your leadership is exactly what the people of Baytown need.
