Livingston wins Tip-off Classic
Lee’s girls basketball team played its last game in its Lady Gander Tip-off Classic Saturday morning as they fell short to Magnolia with a final score of 35-22.
Friday night saw the Crosby Lady Cougars fall by seven points to Dobie in a 69-62 final. The Goose Creek Memorial Lady Patriots finished the tournament with a 59-54 win over Texas City.
Lady Ganders’ coach Terry Gray said his team put up a great effort and believes the tournament will help them prepare for the long run of the season.
“Our biggest key coming in here was to use the non-district games to gain experience and get stronger for the district games,” he said. “You can always learn from a loss and these teams are extremely athletic and will give us exactly the experience we need.”
Gray was thankful a lot of people put it a lot of hard work to make the tournament a success and was pleased by the way it turned out.
“It was another great year for it (the tournament),” he said. “The teams participating are extremely competitive they all put in their best effort. It was especially good for the younger players. There were some great games, and I think everything went over pretty smoothly. No teams had any major injuries.”
Livingston won the tournament Saturday night with a final of 61-49 over Dayton. Clear Brook won the third place game over Sam Rayburn.
