On the road

I don't know about everybody else, but I am tired of the people that feel they don't have to obey the law. We live in Channelview, but go to Baytown

for most of our needs. I don't know how often we have stopped at a red light to see someone speed by us. It not only happens in Baytown, but all over the east side of Houston. It does not matter whether we have a green light. We watch the traffic to see if it is safe to cross the intersection, and then the people behind us honk their horns. We suffer the indignation of being tailgated for driving the speed limit, honked at for not driving through a yellow light, and given the “Welcome to Texas” sign for stopping to keep from hitting someone else. Our society is turning into the crudest, most inconsiderate, and heartless people I have met in my 65 years.

Disappointed

What a disappointment it is to see how many readers wrote in and commented favorably on the House version of health care reform. Somehow it does not give me a comforting feeling to know my health care could be handled by the same bunch that has failed in every enterprise it has tried to run. The postal service is broke, Amtrak is a money pit, Social Security is insolvent, Medicare and Medicaid are facing tens of billions in unfunded mandates. Yet here we have people waiting with bated breath for "free" health care. People their is no free lunch and we will all regret the day our government gets control of health care in America.

The yes man

Well, our congressman has done it again(only this time it was really important). He has voted yes to the most important legislation of our lifetime.

Have you noticed how many times he has voted yes? How can he protect the people of our district by voting yes? Just like not thinking at all.

I believe the people of Baytown want to help themselves and not be punished for being hard working and honest. I think we deserve a better representative in Washington.
