Bad behavior

Police took a Baytown resident to jail after their attempts to resolve a loud noise complaint turned into something more.

Officers went to an apartment in the 6000 block of Garth Road about 11 p.m. Sunday to ask the resident there to keep the noise down. They found that resident to be highly intoxicated but just told him to keep the noise to a level that would not bother other residents. As they prepared to leave, they noticed that he did not reduce the noise so they went back to the apartment and issued a second warning.

As the officers left, the resident followed them down the stairs. The officers told him to go back to his apartment (rather than being drunk in public) and at first he did so, but as the officers again prepared to leave, they saw the man come out of the apartment and try to walk down the stairs again.

He fell twice before making it to ground level and was arrested on a charge of public intoxication for his own safety, police said.

Baytown police arrested a 22-year-old woman in the 100 block of Avenue J about 1:30 p.m. Sunday after she allegedly used a key to scratch a vehicle parked at a home there. The suspect also reportedly kicked the vehicle repeatedly, causing significant damage with her high-heeled shoes. The damage estimate was put at about $2,000, police said.
