Dayton finishes 8-2 regular season

AUSTIN Payton Ploch ran for two touchdowns and caught another pair of touchdown passes as Dayton downed Austin LBJ 36-2 at Nelson Field Saturday afternoon.
The non-district game completes the regular season for both teams.
Dayton, the District 19-4A runnerup, will take an 8-2 record into the bidistrict playoffs next week, playing Vidor Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at Bowers Stadium in Huntsville.
LBJ, the runnerup in District 26-4A, is 5-4.
Ploch caught nine passes for 84 yards and scored on passes of 16 and 18 yards from quarterback Andres Herrera in a 21-point Dayton second period.
He ran the ball 11 times for 32 yards, scoring on runs of four and two yards.
Herrera completed 22 of 35 passes for 265 yards, with no interceptions. Juan Carranco booted three field goals for the Broncos, from 25, 32 and 35 yards.
Dayton led 27-0 at halftime. LBJ’s only points came on a third-quarter safety.
