CROSBY The Crosby Cougars improved to 8-2 by handing Bay City a 24-0 non-district shutout Friday night at Cougar Stadium.
The Cougars are set for a bidistrict meeting with Nederland of District 20-4A next week after finishing the regular season on an eight-game win streak.
Ja’Kacy Evans rushed for 105 yards and three touchdowns to help Crosby’s District 19-4A champions past the 23-4A squad that finished its season at 1-9.
The Cougars did all their scoring in the first half.
Evans scored on a three-yard run midway through the first quarter to get things going.
He was back in the end zone, this time from five yards out, midway through the second period and Evans added a four-yard score with 1:48 left until half.
Sam Fowler, who booted three PATs, added a 49-yard field goal with 5 ticks left on the second-quarter clock.
M.J. Mathis led the Crosby defense, coming up with three interceptions of Bay City passes. The Blackcats had just five first downs and 38 total offense yards.
The Cougars emptied their bench in the second half, resting the starters for next week’s playoff game.
