Ura LaVerne Epperson
Ura LaVerne Epperson passed away on November 4, 2009 in Splendora, Texas. She was 97.
LaVerne was born on September 17, 1912 in Cedar Bayou, Texas to Bert & Ura (Barrow) Fisher.
She was married to Floyd Hopkins Epperson in December of 1935 in Cedar Bayou, Texas. She resided in Three Rivers, Texas until recently when she moved to Splendora to live with Autry and Pamela Smith, her niece and husband, to be cared for, for the last 5 years.
LaVerne was a cowgirl at her granddad’s ranch and was a member of First Assembly of God since 1948. She taught Sunday School for 26 years, Bible School for 12 years, and was a song leader both in Three Rivers and Baytown, Texas. She did baking for fundraising to help build the church in Baytown. LaVerne was in the Nursing Home Ministry for over 20 years and worked at the church in all the ways she could.
She was preceded in death by her husband, and two sons, Raybon and Niles Epperson, three sisters, Naomi Teten, Edna Templin and Genevive Harrington.
Mrs. Epperson is survived by two granddaughters, Rebecca Spires of Sallsburg, NC and Tonya Epperson of Three Rivers; 6 great grandchildren, Lillie, John Lee, Jordan, Emily, Nicholas and Sarah.
Visitation will take place on Sunday, November 8, 2009 from 4-6 p.m. at Galloway & Sons Chapel in Three Rivers, Texas, with funeral services scheduled there, Monday morning, November 9, 2009 at 10 a.m., Rev. Kenny Shelton officiating. Interment to follow at Three Rivers Cemetery.
