Sterling High’s boys finished in eighth place and its girls were fifth in two separate golf tournaments in the past week.
The Ranger boys played in the 24-team Brazoswood Invitational at The Wilderness Golf Club Monday. David Brister led Sterling with an 80, Tim Reilly was next with an 86, followed by Zach Benavides, 89; Kyle Murray, 90; and Taylor Nethery, 95.

Earlier this fall, the Sterling girls won and the Sterling boys placed second at a rain-shortened tournament hosted by North Shore at the Texaco Golf Club.
Brittany Buffum placed second individually with a 44 and Alyssa Buffum was third at 48.
Benavides and Brister led the boys with matching nine-hole scores of 40.
