Sterling at Channelview
When/Where: Today, 7 p.m., Maddry Stadium
Records: Sterling 2-6 (0-4 in District 21-5A): Channelview 1-8 (1-3)
Last year’s score: Sterling 35-26
Importance: Channelview is coming off its first win of the season, 36-30 over Port Arthur, and can still make the playoffs with a miracle ending. In order for the Falcons to get into the playoffs they must beat Sterling and hope that Lee beats PA Memorial. The Rangers, with no playoff shot, would love to play the spoilers in this game.
PA Memorial at Lee
When/Where: Today, 7 p.m., Stallworth Stadium
Records: PA Memorial 5-4 (2-2 in 21-5A); Lee 3-6 (2-2)
Last year’s score: PA Memorial 13-10
Importance: Lee is already in the playoffs but the Ganders look for some postseason momentum with another win. If they pull out a win here and Channelview beats Sterling, there will be a tie for fourth place between Channelview and PA Memorial. The tie-breaker however goes to Channelview for beating PA Memorial last week.
Bay City at Crosby
When/Where: Today, 7 p.m., Cougar Stadium
Records: Bay City 1-8 (0-4 in 23-4A); Crosby 7-2 (7-0 in 19-4A)
Last year’s score: Did not play
Importance: This non-district game comes as a result of both teams having Week 10 byes. While Crosby’s District 19-4A champions are seeking an eighth straight win before starting the playoffs, Bay City is looking forward to basketball.
Buna at Anahuac
When/Where: Tonight, 7:30 p.m., Kyle White Stadium
Records: Buna 6-3 (4-1 in 23-2A): Anahuac 7-2 (4-1)
Last year’s score: Anahuac 38-13
Importance: Buna has won four straight district games and would like a five-game win streak to go to the playoffs. Since Anahuac has already grabbed the Division I playoff berth from 23-2A, this second-place tie-breaker does not affect playoff seeding.
Dayton at Austin LBJ
When/Where: Saturday, 2 p.m., Nelson Field
Records: Dayton 7-2 (6-1 in 19-4A), LBJ 5-3 (4-1 in 26-4A)
Last year’s score: Did not play.
Importance: Each team is seeking to go into the playoffs with a win. Long road trip for Dayton created by rare Week 10 district bye and desire for warm-up heading into postseason.
Mount Carmel at Baytown Christian Academy
When/Where: Saturday, 4 p.m., BCA football field
Records: BCA 2-7, Mount Carmel N/A
Last year’s score: Did not play.
Importance: The Bulldogs are celebrating their homecoming as they search for their third win of the season. Mount Carmel has won twice this year after ending a 35-game losing streak in October.
