WARREN Quarterback Cody Johnson passed for four touchdowns and Braxton Mayes scored three touchdowns, two on passes, as Anahuac steamrolled Warren 51-0 Friday.
The win clinches a playoff bid for the Panthers as they are now 4-1 in District 23-2A and 7-2 overall.
Anahuac, which also beat Warren 51-0 last year, hosts Buna next Friday in its regular-season finale.
The Panthers jumped to a 39-0 halftime lead over Warren, which fell to 3-6 overall, 1-4 in district.
To do it, Anahauc scored two times in the final 36 seconds of the first quarter.
Mayes returned a punt 46 yards to score and put the Panthers ahead 20-0 with 36 seconds left in the period. After one of Warren’s four turnovers, the Panthers were back in the end zone 27 seconds later on a 27-yard pass from Johnson to Dewan Childress.
Johnson, who completed 7 of 10 passes for 197 yards, passed to Mayes for first- and second-quarter touchdowns of 30 and 29 yards and also hit Colton Laskoskie for a 14-yard TD throw in the second period.
Trevante Thomas led Anahuac rushers with four carries for 91 yards, including a 57-yard TD run to open the game’s scoring. Childress, the Panthers’ season rushing leader, had only four carries for 27 yards, but he caught two passes for 62 yards.
Mayes had three catches for 96 yards.
