Baytown Christian Academy’s volleyball team opens play in the Texas Christian Athletic League’s state tournament today in San Antonio.
It’s just one of many area sports teams facing important weekends as their seasons come to a close.
Of course, there’s football, now in the act of finalizing playoff positions.
District cross country meets will take place today at Barbers Hill (District 19-4A) and Baytown’s Gentry Junior School (District 21-5A). Anahuac participated in the District 23-2A meet Wednesday.
The top three teams and top 10 individuals in each district meet advance to regional meets to be held Saturday, Nov. 7.
Sterling and Barbers Hill will compete in their regional team tennis meets Friday, and hopefully, Saturday.
And all three Baytown UIL schools plus Barbers Hill and Crosby will play their bidistrict volleyball matches Monday and Tuesday of next week.
Sterling, District 21-5A team tennis champion, will play in the Region III-5A tournament which is being hosted by Deer Park High School at several area schools.
The Rangers will play Atascocita in a first-round match at 7:45 a.m. Friday at Clear Creek High School.
Barbers Hill, the runnerup in District 19-4A, will play Friday morning in the Region III-4A tournament hosted by the Katy schools. Opponents and playing sites for that meet won’t be assigned until Thursday night.
