Letters for October 27, 2009

Like a true, born in Baytown person I am still a high school football nut and follow the Ganders as I always have since 1950. I see where the Ganders played Channelview. Wow. Back years ago when Lee was a powerhouse they wouldnt play teams like that. It was always Port Arthur, Brazosport, Corpus Christi Ray, Pasadena and they were a 4A school. How times have changed. New schools, different cultures. I just miss the times when the game was replayed at Trophy Barber Shop every Saturday morning. I remember waking up if we lost on Saturday and my whole weekend was rough. Those were good times. Victory dances and pep rallys. School spirit. I know.

I’m a graduate of Lee and yes, Sterling was not even thought of when I got out of school in 1965. So I’ll keep on following the Ganders and hopefully one day they may even bring back the famous Lee Brigadiers. Great stuff.
