HOUSTON -- So much for have a tough road game.

Friday night at GPISD Stadium it took only took one snap from scrimmage for Dayton to score, as the Broncos raced past Galena Park 56-26, in what at times resembled a 19-4A track meet.

The victory gives the Broncos their ticket to their 14th straight playoff appearance under coach Jerry Stewart. Stewart and the Broncos look to be back on track after their district loss to Crosby a few weeks ago.

Payton Ploch was again the offensive star for Dayton.

Lining up at receiver, Ploch gave Dayton a quick 7-0 lead by taking a bubble screen 65 yards on the initial play with Andres Herrera doing the passing.

Ploch accounted for 277 offensive yards and four touchdowns, a pair rushing and two more receiving.

Dayton pushed the lead to 28-0, before the end of the first quarter by scoring on two of its next three possestions and the defense added to the fun with a Moises Herrera fumble recovery for TD, after a bad Yellowjacket punt snap.

The teams combined for 716 yards of offense, as the Broncos finished with 559 yards. Andres Herrera had his best passing night as he finished with 269 passing yards and three TD tosses.

Ploch led the receivers with four catches and 164 yards. Gamal Fowler also added 88 on three grabs, that included a 55-yard TD in the first quarter.

The Broncos also ran the ball well. They rushed for 290 yards with Xavier Baldwin leading all rushers with 133 yards on 12 totes.

The Dayton defense also had a good night by registering five turnovers. Moises Herrera, Ploch and N.L. Hines had fumble recoveries, while Jakari Delasbour and Colby Cook had interceptions.

The Broncos held Galena Park to only five yards rushing on the night.
