Police News for October 22, 2009

No delivery

Police were called to check out a driver who appeared to be impaired about 8:42 a.m. Tuesday. They caught up with the woman, a Dayton resident who gave her occupation as a delivery driver, on Highway 146 near FM 565 and reported that she was not intoxicated, but she did not have a valid driver’s license and was in possession of a dangerous drug so she was arrested, police said.

Prowler caught

Officers on a prowler call in the 4800 block of Pebblebrook Drive about 11:30 p.m. Tuesday spotted a suspicious person but the man fled on foot when they tried to detain him, discarding a sawed-off shotgun when he ran, police said.

PCP/Evading

A Baytown man was arrested in the area of Craigmont and Decker Drive after officers tried to stop his vehicle for a traffic violation. The man first tried to flee, but officers captured him after a short chase. When the man was searched, officers found him in possession of PCP, they said.

Attempted robbery

A man and woman told police that a man armed with a semi-automatic handgun tried to rob them while they were sitting in a vehicle in an apartment complex parking lot in the 6000 block of Garth Road about 1:10 a.m. Wednesday.

Terroristic threat

A Baytown woman was arrested in the 400 block of Laredo Street about 7:30 p.m. Tuesday after she threatened to stab someone, police said.

43 offenses

Between Tuesday and Wednesday mornings, Baytown police wrote 43 offense reports and investigated incidents that included an auto theft; two burglaries of buildings; a criminal mischief case; one disorderly conduct case, a driving while intoxicated case; two forgeries; two robbery attempts; a sexual assault; seven thefts; and 11 miscellaneous cases.

Officers also worked four traffic accidents. No related injuries were reported.
