• To the 149 new teachers who joined the ranks of GCCISD’s faculty this year. School has begun for the district, and these new educators have their work cut out for them. We wish them luck in their endeavor to enlighten our city’s youth and give them the tools they need to become our future leaders.
• To our district’s students, who have entered their campus hallways again as the school year commences. Like the teachers, they’ve got plenty of work ahead, but it’s all for a good cause. Life is about learning, and it begins in the classroom. May the students not only glean as much knowledge as they can, but also develop and maintain a love for learning.
• To the Lakewood Pool Club, which hosted a movie night this past weekend. As summer draws to a close, this was an excellent way to spend a few hours with family and friends, and to relax a bit before the daily grind began once more across the area.
