The moment many Baytonians have been waiting for has finally arrived.
Citizens fed up with the government and the way they are being represented in Washington have a chance to let their voices be heard at the next San Jacinto TEA (Taxed Enough Already) Party rally being held on Wednesday at Houston Raceway Park from 6 9 p.m.
Unaffiliated with any political party, the San Jacinto TEA party is a diverse organization of concerned citizens who are primarily focused on the desire for a small, limited government with more personal liberties, a healthy free market system with strong citizen-owned businesses and strict adherence to the U.S. Consitution in establishing the laws of the land.
Guest speakers at the rally on Wednesday include U.S. congressman Ted Poe, Houston businessman Jim “Mattress Mac” McIngvale, pastor and radio talk show host Apostle Claver and citizen speaker Dan Blackford.
“(Poe) has been a supporter of conservative values and ideas and his voting record is very solid,” said Steve Pike, San Jacinto TEA party chairperson. “He believes in limited government, free market capitalism and fiscal responsibility, as well as a voting record that indicates that stance.”
Pike said the San Jacinto TEA party feels McIngvale has done more for the City of Houston and the surrounding area than any single business.
“He has built a better mouse trap than most people,” Pike said. “He doesn’t need to be punished for that. He should be rewarded for that.”
Pike said Clover has a long history of promoting conservative family values.
“He can tell us how we can fight our way out of bad situations and make ourselves better as a result of it,” he said. “He can show us how each one of us is empowered to go and build a better life for ourselves and our families.”
Pike also said the TEA party is trying to show people that they are not a one-hit wonder and they are trying to go out and educate the voting public and get people to wake up.
“We want to let everyone know we are not going away,” he said. “We won’t to show people we are going to do more then meet a few times a year and wave signs.
“We want to educate citizens on how the politicians vote and how they are really representing their constituents or let them know if they are bowing to the lobbyists.
“We want people to realize how the different officials vote on specific issues.”
Along with the speakers, the San Jacinto TEA party rally will include patriotic music and other activities for people to be involved in.
