Charles J. Fobbe
Charles J. Fobbe, 92 of Baytown, passed away suddenly Wednesday, November 5, 2008. Born in Covington, KY on January 11, 1916, he was the youngest of seven children born to William and Laura Von Wehenpohl Fobbe. He proudly served in the United States Navy during WWII. On May 2, 1943, he married the love of his life, Dorothy Chichester, in Norwood, Ohio. He retired in 1976, from the US Postal Service where he worked as a letter carrier in Cincinnati. On weekends, Charles started a photography business, taking pictures at weddings and other special events. Charles and Dorothy raised tropical fish, providing aquariums for doctors’ offices, hospitals and mental health care facilities, throughout the greater Cincinnati area. After his retirement Charles and Dorothy moved to Florida and became passionate hobbyists. They would travel thousands of miles each year in their motor-home. They were Challenge Level square dancers. Charles will be remembered for his homemade wine which everyone enjoyed.

After moving to Baytown seven years ago, he enjoyed the senior activities at the Baytown Community Center. He and Dorothy were active members of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and were regulars at the church’s Keenagers.

Charles is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Dorothy C. Fobbe of Baytown; two daughters, Marilyn Wissmann of Conroe, and LTC Lee Ann Adams and husband, Butch of Baytown; grandchildren, Scott Wissmann, Joseph Wissmann, Jeannie Wissmann. Kathy Smith and husband, Ed, Richard Mursinna and wife, Kelley, SSG Matthew Mursinna and wife, Michelle; great-grandchildren, Amber Wissmann, Alex Hobbs, R. J. Mursinna, Cecelia Mursinna, and Emma Lee Mursinna; and many numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, November 7, 2008, at Crespo & Jirrels Funeral Home. A rosary will be recited at 5:00 p.m. A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, November 8, at 10 a.m. at the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church with the Reverend William A. Oliver as celebrant
