Thirty-seven Goose Creek students will advance to the state history fair after earning first or second place honors at the Lee College Regional History Fair on March 24 and 25. The fair is co-sponsored by Lee College and GCCISD.

A total of 91 GCCISD students won awards, with 174 competing.

Students in GCCISD began doing research work and planning in September. Over 1,200 students competed at campus-level history fairs, with 44 teachers, librarians and campus administrators involved.

The 37 students who qualified for state competition will compete on April 28 and 29 in Austin at the Bob Bullock State History Museum. The state history fair, referred to as Texas History Day, is sponsored by the Texas State Historical Association.
