Three men have been arrested and charged in the home invasion and capital murder of a Barrett Station man, according to the lead investigator in the case.
According to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, Eric Arline, 26, was shot to death early Thursday morning when four armed men forced their way into his trailer home in the 200 block of Reuben White Drive, near Crosby-Lynchburg Drive, and demanded drugs and money.
When Arline told them there was no money or drugs in the home, he was shot, according to investigators. After searching the trailer and finding nothing, the suspects stole Arline’s Buick and fled.
When deputies arrived in response to a 911 call, they found Arline dead. Another man, who was staying in the house, had a slight wound and was taken to LBJ Hospital. Arline’s wife, who was also in the home, was not injured.
Around 8:30 a.m. Thursday, deputies came across the Buick with two occupants, who abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot. One of the men, Terrance Jones Jr., 20, was captured, Hoffman said.
He said that subsequent investigation revealed the names of two other suspects, Ronald Kent Revis III, 26, and Joseph Darnell Hope, 20.
Hoffman said that deputies arrested Revis in Houston Thursday afternoon and arrested Hope at his parents’ Houston home Friday.
Hoffman said that all three men confessed to detectives.
Prosecutors accepted charges of capital murder against Jones and Revis, and both are scheduled to appear in the 209th District Court Monday. Information on charges against Hope could not be confirmed by press time Friday.
“They felt like the guy had money there. Whatever kind of intelligence they got was obviously wrong, because they weren’t able to get any,” Hoffman said. There were also no drugs in the home, he said.
