The dominance the Barbers Hill softball team enjoyed on the diamond in District 21-5A play continued a week into the offseason.
On Tuesday, the all-district team was announced and the Barbers Hill Lady Eagles dominated the field just like it did during an unbeaten season of play.
Pitchers, junior Jessica Mullins and sophomores Sophia Simpson and Samantha Landry were selected Co-Most Valuable Players of the district while the Utility Player of the Year was freshman Estela Garza as Aaron Fuller was named the Coach of the Year.
Barbers Hill finished the season with a 39-5 record and advanced to the Class 5A Region 3 Finals before losing a three-game series to No. 1 Angleton in a decisive, 9-8, third game.
First-team all-district selections included catcher, junior Hanna Webb, designated player, sophomore Amber Thibodeaux, infielders, seniors Rebecca Miller (first base), Matee Simon (second base) and Sydney Hoyt (shortstop) and junior Hayley Freudenberg (at large).
Also, sophomore centerfielder Stephanie Niemann made the first team.
Sophomore outfielder Kaylee Hornberger was chosen for the second team as honorable mention went to sophomore Kaitlyn Dutton and sophomore Summer Gigout.
Also, the academic all-district selections were announced and Garza, Dutton, Hornberger, Landry, Niemann, Simpson, Freudenberg, Gigout, Mullins, Webb, Hoyt, Miller, Simon and Macy Sumrall all earned that honor as well.
