Travel to West Brook tonight for wrap up
In 48 minutes the Sterling High School football season will conclude tonight.
The Rangers (1-8, 0-6) head to Beaumont to take on West Brook (7-2, 4-2) in hopes of finishing the season strong with a good game against a superior opponent.
“We don’t change our mindset from one opponent to the next, we just want to play hard,” Sterling head coach Robert Toomer said. “West Brook played for the state championship last year and didn’t lose many kids. They are playing really well right now, but we need to do what we need to do. We have to cut down our mistakes.”
Last week, Sterling fell 27-13 in against C.E. King last week.
“You can see the development and that we can do this and play with anyone at any given time, but you have to be consistent and stay within the game.”
Toomer felt he saw some of that last week against King.
“C.E. King is a wonderful team and at some point of time we need to show you we can fight through adversity, have a goal-line stand and force some turnovers,” Toomer said. “I was proud of the kids. But we are still getting in our own way putting ourselves in adversity. If you put yourself in it, it takes you longer to get out of it.”
