It was a close call at the end but Goose Creek Memorial softball found a way to seal the deal.

Despite seeing a 9-2 lead evaporate after the bottom of the third inning, the Lady Patriots held on for a 9-7 District 22-5A win and move to 9-19-1 overall.

GCM blasted out 14 hits with Gabby Gantu, Cheyanne Mohler and Deanne Gomez all recording three hits apiece coming 4-5-6 in the batting lineup.

Mohler and Gomez each had team-highs in RBI - three each - and Gabby Leggington blasted a home run to pace the Lady Patriots five extra-base hits.

Mohler finished the game with three doubles.

Catherine Montoya pitched 6.2 innings and struck out three to earn the win while Flora Davila came in to record the final out and the save.
