I am an old lady and in the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s, I ran a plumbing, heating and air conditioning company because my husband died.

Well you know, doctors get doctor papers, and construction people (like me) get construction papers about the things to watch out for.

Over and over I read stories about plumbers, electricians and other construction people getting cheated out of their money by some builder named Trump. I knew if he came to town my company would not bid on his work.

For some reason, I expected to be paid for my work.

Of course, you have you have guessed the builder Trump is now the President Donald John Trump and no I did not vote for him. If I wouldn’t trust him with my work why would I trust him with my country?

I also paid my taxes yearly and was interested in his new tax bill. It’s really great if you are a Buffet, Bezos or a person in that billionaire category. If you paid a dime last year you helped your country more than Amazon that had a profit in the billions and did not pay even a dime in taxes. If you paid that dime you did more for your country than Amazon and you a can consider yourself better than a billionaire — maybe not richer but surely better.

I think Trump is hiding his taxes because he did not pay any taxes but my granddaughter thinks it’s worst. She thinks he got a refund on taxes he did not pay.

Maybe we will find out some day and I will know who was the best guesser.

I could write about the $25 million fine he paid I think last year for defrauding people with his Trump University or the $2 million fine for the non-profit that was also a fraud that he paid this year.

I could also say that a grown man attacking a 16-year-old girl by tweet for doing a great job is beyond my understanding unless he was just jealous because she was on the front page of Time and he wasn’t. I could go into these things but I won’t, maybe next time.

In 1930 Chicago, mobster Al Capone ran a soup kitchen during the Great Depression. America’s most notorious gangster sponsored the charity that served up three hot meals a day to thousands of the unemployed—no questions asked. Capone’s soup kitchen served breakfast, lunch and dinner to an average of 2,200 Chicagoans every day. He was known to tip waiters with $20 bills, enough money to feed the person's family for a month.

Capone was eventually convicted of tax evasion/fraud and interred at the Atlanta Federal Penitentiary, where my paternal grandfather oversaw the three machine shops. The common man loved Capone because he fed their families. They didn't care that he earned his money through vice. I believe every politician at the top is dirty, so what is the big deal? World politics is dirty business. I don't care that our Oval Office representative gut-punches now and again as long as America stays on top. We can't stay on top giving away what we Americans worked for, without something equally good in return.

Now, I am not trying to put Trump in the same category as this crime boss, but he does share the adoration of the voters for the same reason as Capone. He is feeding their families and they don't care whether he strong-arms world leaders to continue. That's just the obvious facts. I assume every powerful person on this earth got there by walking on the backs of those they pass.

Ponder this thought. Don't bite the hand that feeds you. No reasoning person wants to go back to Obama's global-sharing and empowering vision. They are making so much money, they would vote for the devil to keep getting it, regardless of who or what the person looks like.

This late in the race, the Democrats have no platform, no front runner, and no hope of defeating Trump. Their only recourse is repeated attacks and more and more foggy politics. Lord help this country over the next 5 years as Liberals crank out pages and pages of doom and gloom that doesn't reflect reality.

I respect your opinion. Thank you for posting. I assume you voted for Bill Clinton twice and Hillary, so I have a question. Are the Clinton's clean enough for you to vote for them? If you answer yes, folks who read what you wrote are going to walk away shaking their head. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you decided to not vote at all.

Frank

Thanks Ann, for sharing common sense thoughts. I wish that the Trumpers who post here would open their minds to the reality of a lying, cheating, narcissistic president who is the worst imaginable example to the children of our country. “Christianity Today” said it well, “None of the president’s positives can balance the moral and political danger we face under a leader of such grossly immoral character”.

So frankie, your holy now right, worried about the immoral? You want to apologize to the Lord about supporting the millions of abortions carried out by the Democrats. It would certainly be in the Christmas Spirit.....

Frank

As usual, N/A, you have it wrong. Myself and Democrats in general, are not advocating abortion, rather we believe in a woman’s right to choose. (That is a distinction with a huge difference). You and your self-righteous friends want to make women criminals if they choose to have an abortion. Instead of turning them into criminals and putting them in prison, you should be supporting crisis pregnancy centers to help women with unwanted pregnancies.

The implications of your simple-minded approach are ridiculous, especially if you insist that “life begins at conception”. No morning after pills will be allowed. No exceptions for pregnancies caused by rape or incest. (I am quite confident that your opinion would change if it was your granddaughter who was raped.) No more in vitro fertilization procedures would be permitted. No abortions that would save the life of the mother. Parents would not be allowed to abort fetuses that are severely malformed.

The example I like to use is Tom Landry’s daughter. While she was pregnant, doctors discovered that she had cancer. If she chose immediate chemotherapy, the doctors said her life could be saved, but the baby would die. On the other hand, if she waited until after the baby was born to start chemotherapy, it would be too late. The lady chose to wait until after the birth. The baby lived and she died. Sad story, but the point is it was the mother’s choice and not the government’s. Not your choice, not my choice, it was the mother’s choice. Can you imagine the police coming into the doctor’s office and telling her that if she chose immediate chemotherapy, they would throw her in jail?!?! That’s what you would advocate with your narrow-minded ignorance.

As for making it a religious issue, it’s interesting to me that abortion is not directly mentioned anywhere in the Bible even though it has been practiced since ancient times and was permitted by Roman law in Jesus’ day. I do read in 1 Samuel and Deuteronomy, that God commanded the Israelites to kill every man, woman, and infant among their foes, which I assume included pregnant women and their unborn children. In the 5th chapter of Numbers, directions are given by a priest (God’s representative) to prepare a potion that would produce an abortion in a woman who has been unfaithful to her husband. If you want to oppose abortion, fine, but don't say that the Bible supports your stance.

History shows us that much evil has been done in the name of religion. The genius of our forefathers was that they were wise enough to insist on the principle of separation of church and state. The right of a woman to control decisions about her body is a constitutional right, not a decision to be made by religious decree or a bunch of right wing fanatics.

Hey frankie who are you to decide when life starts? You can spout bible verses all day long and make all the excuses you want. It's a baby not a choice. A mother life in jeopardy? That's her and her husbands choice and their religious conviction. We certainly don't need Democrats passing laws making any American pay for any procedure against their will. I don't care whose body it is. That's always been the point frankie. Kill all the babies you and the rest of the Democrats want, just don't force me to pay for it. Yada, yada, yada on your response. Planned Parenthood is in the business of killing babies with taxpayer funded money and selling baby body parts until they were caught supported by the Democratic party. Enough said....

Frank

OK N/A, here’s a question for you. YES or NO. Do you support putting women in prison if they have an abortion? YES or NO?

As usual, your facts are wrong. Only 3 percent of Planned Parenthood’s activities are abortion related. Federal law prohibits taxpayer money from being used to fund abortions except in cases of incest, rape, or to save the mother’s life. Do you have a problem with that, N/A?

Have you even read a summary of Roe vs. Wade? My guess is that 99 percent of the anti abortion zealots don’t know anything about what it says.

Once again, N/A. YES or NO. Do you support putting a woman in prison if she has an abortion? YES or NO?

rmartin

Misguided frankie, no prison for abortion. It's immoral not criminal. Watch my lips frankie, I don't want to pay for it. Planned Parenthood 3 percent abortion? Now that's really funny, half their business is killing babies. Did you miss the part about selling baby parts?

Frank

That’s a reasonable position, N/A. Then, like me, you don’t want abortion to be made illegal. We almost agree on something. WOW. I’m glad to see you finally answered a difficult question.

I do wish your objection to immorality extended to the actions of our president that includes adultery, lying (15,413 at last count), cheating, slandering, etc.

Read my lips, N/A. Federal law (the Hyde Amendment) bans the use of tax dollars for abortions except in cases where the mother's life is in danger or in cases of rape or incest. Do you have a problem with that, N/A? I'll be interested in your answer if you have one.

You are totally wrong about Planned Parenthood. Why don’t you support (with a legitimate source) your position that half of their business involves abortion? I’ll be waiting.

In the meantime, here is an analysis from the Washington Examiner, a notable conservative publication:

"Abortions make up 3.4 percent of the services Planned Parenthood performs, an increase from 3 percent the previous year. More than half of its clinics, or 357 out of roughly 600, provide medication abortions, which women can use up to roughly 10 weeks into a pregnancy. The annual report does not indicate the amount of revenue collected from providing abortions. Some health insurance companies cover abortions, other women receive financial help, and others pay out of pocket."

"Testing for sexually transmitted diseases comprises the largest share of Planned Parenthood services, at 48.7 percent, and next is contraception at 27.1 percent. An additional 6.3 percent of medical services performed are cancer screenings and prevention, a drop from 7 percent during the previous fiscal year. In all, Planned Parenthood saw 2.4 million patients across the U.S."

rmartin

Nice try there frankie with your fuzzy math. A woman goes in for an abortion and has 5 services such as testing, counseling, medication and aftercare. Each is listed as a separate service along with the actual abortion to hold the percentage of abortions down to fool the public like they did on frankie. Susan B. Anthony list cites much higher percentage of abortions. Over half of Planned Parenthood income is abortions. U.S. taxpayers contribute over a half billion dollars to PP. Shame, shame frankie…..

Frank

N/A, not surprisingly it is hard for you to absorb facts. For the THIRD time, Federal law (the Hyde Amendment) bans the use of tax dollars for abortions except in cases where the mother's life is in danger or in cases of rape or incest. So rest easy, your taxes are not funding abortions at Planned Parenthood or anywhere else. Let that soak in.

Most of the federal money that goes to Planned Parenthood goes as part of Title X, the nation’s family planning program – funds that can only be used to support family planning health care. According to the Congressional Budget Office, the government saves $7 in Medicaid-related costs for every dollar invested in publicly funded family planning programs like Title X.

The Congressional Budget Office further estimates that barring Planned Parenthood health centers from Medicaid would result in a net cost of $130 million to taxpayers over 10 years due to increased unintended pregnancies without Planned Parenthood’s contraceptive care.

I should think you would applaud Planned Parenthood for saving taxpayer dollars, but the hate runs deep in your echo chamber. You probably don’t care about facts, but just in case, check out this website produced by the congressional Committee on Oversight and Reform: .

As for your fetal tissue claim, federal law permits the funding of human fetal tissue transplantation research. However, Planned Parenthood does not receive any federal funding for its fetal tissue donations. Planned Parenthood does not make a profit from such donations. It is illegal for Planned Parenthood to profit from such donations. It can only recoup expenses. Attempts to entrap PP representatives resulted in heavily edited videos, but the full videos showed no culpability in anything illegal. Facts are pesky little things.

Yes frankie and the tooth fairy will be by tonight, although false teeth don't count so you may be out of luck. Planned Parenthood is the most corrupt organization right behind the Clinton Crime Family Foundation of course that's normal with Democrats at the helm. You ever watch the undercover tapes on the baby body part illegal sales? That was a silly question of me to ask. Happy New Year frankie and try to get a life besides editing Baytown Sun comments.....

Frank

N/A, maybe you should check this thread to see who started the abortion debate.

It’s amazing to me how you can rant about the Clinton Foundation and stay silent about the Trump Foundation. One is highly rated by Charity Navigator, and the other was accused of a “shocking pattern of illegality”, closed down by law enforcement, and paid a 2 million dollar fine for damages. I bet you have a conspiracy theory to explain that.

Oh, you want me to quit posting? That’s the pot calling the kettle black. With his attacks on the press, law enforcement agencies, our allies, incessant lies, and general ineptness, Trump is putting our democracy in peril. As long as posters like you keep inundating us with Trump propaganda, I will keep responding with facts.
