The Health Department and the Planning and Development department are after the citizens of Baytown again. Did you know that a driveway of shell or of caliche is not considered a paved surface?  Did you know that pleasure boats and recessional vehicle or trailer cannot be stored in your own driveway unless it is concrete or asphalt or pavers. Nothing can be stored in grass. How many people are illegal and do not know? You own the property or you rent property and the taxes are paid, but you are illegal.

I realize that the city wishes to make the city more desirable, but the methods are maddening. The common sense is not there.  The fairness is not there. It is not uniform or equally enforced. There are many employees of the city “in the field” on a daily basis and the citizens who pay the taxes are made to feel like the enemy. It is very hard to get someone to answer the phone or respond unless you want to send an email.
