The Baytown Sun management really came out providing a valuable opinion on a timely issue - this biggie story Sharpie-gate! Using what appeared to be a self-made presidential stupidness-scale as a guide, they declared the “fiasco has gone on long enough.” If they really believe this, why write more on the subject? Did they find something really earth-shattering to inform us Baytonians? I thought we have Washington politics covered in about a thousand other outlets, so why once again is this in our paper?

How about editorials about Baytown politics and our issues? The good Lord knows there is fodder enough for actual local journalism. I suspect the majority of the Sun’s subscribers have already locked into a political party and the choices are so wide, nothing will budge a voter to change. What we, as subscribers, need is what goes on here in our city.

With newspapers failing around the world, our Baytown Sun needs to stop choosing sides over silly editorials and write about our city.

“Sharpie-gate is simply politically motivated obfuscation to justify a serious mistake by Trump.”

The last sentence of the editorial is the most perplexing because Conservatives have learned that no amount of apologies or concessions would allow Trump to move on in the eyes of the Liberals. Their goal is resistance regardless. They are looking at losing the next election, so their only recourse will be to up the violence and destructive Constitutional behavior and make living in this country worse.

In other words, nothing the man does will get the nod of approval from the Liberal Socialist-driven agenda they want to cram down everyone’s throat.

They will not be happy until any Republican or non-Liberal sits in the big chair. Then they will reach back and blame, Trump, then Bush, then ... The “Jeer” on Sharpie-gate is simply politically motivated obfuscation to justify a Liberal agenda by our local media.

Bert, Sharpie-Gate should have been a non-event. The reason it took on a life of its own was because Trump could not say….”Oops, I made a mistake. Thank you for correcting me.” Instead, his fragile ego and narcissism required him to invent ridiculous explanations in a futile attempt to prove that he was correct. He even had his commerce secretary threaten the weather service with firings if they did not back up his false explanation. Wow. The guy is mentally unhinged and this event is just more proof of that. And it was cannon fodder for Trump critics, cartoonists, and late night comedians. Trump brought in onto himself and you know it, Bert. As the philosopher Forrest Gump tells us, “stupid is as stupid does.” It’s important because the public needs to be aware that we have an idiot in the White House. Don’t blame the Democrats for talking about Trump’s stupidity. We would be laughing just as hard if a Democratic president was stupid enough to do something similar. Trump lies, Bert. All the time. When are you going to realize that?

Alan H

Bert, you can't grasp that you and Trump are the cause of destructive Constitutional behavior by calling our free press names, suggesting biased press agendas, and restricting true information about a stupid, racist, white supremacist, 12,000 times pathological liar-in-chief. Just wait until former National Sec Advisor Bolton spills the dirt on Temper-Tantrum Trump's moronic, delusional actions. Republicans should probably start looking for a new Klan member as their 2020 nominee for president because Frank is right...Trump is an idiotic nut.

rmartin

No Alan the idiotic President was Obama and his team trying to undo a duly elected Presidential election. Keep tuned Alan it's coming. Macabe is the first one.

Frank

Well, now we know, thanks to N/A. All of Trump’s gaffes and illegal doings are Obama’s fault. Maybe Obama is using mind control to make Trump look stupid. Alternatively, Trump is just stupid all on his own.

Alan H

Well, I was beginning to wonder what became of you Mr Martin as you haven't honored the BSun with your "pearls of wisdom" for awhile. Before you get too excited and start foaming at the mouth about McCabe, there are numerous rumors circulating that the grand jury investigating the phony Trump charges against him has declined to indict former FBI Deputy Dir Andrew McCabe on anything. We'll know for sure very soon.

Hang loose Frankie, hang loose.....

Stay on topic: How much attention should the Baytown Sun spend on Washington politics fellas? Geeze, are you all so easily distracted from the subject? The Sun's ME added the word "only" at the end of the header. I never said "only"; the point is unless Washington politics is so earth shattering why are they not doing old fashioned journalism and investigating stuff that is local and concerns Baytown? Is there any common ground here? I think not, but maybe there is hope that personal biases can be set aside for this lone topic. I never look to the Baytown Sun on any level or at any time to find out about ANY sitting President. I use other sources. When I open the failing BS, I want to see local, county, and then finally... state issues which concern Baytownians.

Frank

So Bert, you got your panties all in a wad because of a blurb in the "Jeers" column? I agree with you that the primary emphasis of news covered by the Sun should be local, and actually, that is exactly what I see. At last check Baytown is still part of the USA, and the actions of the crazy person in the White House impacts all of us. The Sun has a duty to keep us informed about both local and national news. You could opt out of your subscription, but then you would lose the forum for your many essays, and that's what is really important to you. I had to laugh at your reference to the "failing Baytown Sun". Right out of the Trump playbook.

baytownbert

Please attempt to stay on topic in the future sir. It is difficult to carry on a reasonable conversation with anyone who insists on bending everything said to fit a partisan attack on the president.

Frank

I bet you wouldn't care if it was a partisan attack on Obama.

rmartin

That's the sad part Frankie. The Republican's out of respect for the office let clown Obama govern even though he implemented socialist policies. Thank god President Trump is righting all the wrongs....

Frank

LOL

Frank

N/A, you must not remember Mitch McConnell's remark concerning the Republican agenda after Obama was elected......“The single most important thing we want to achieve is for President Obama to be a one-term president.”
