• Cheers to Mont Belvieu dentist Dr. Thomas Friedt for his act of kindness toward World War II veteran Charles Mauer III. Mauer’s bridge fell out over the holidays and needed to be replaced. In stepped Friedt, who did the work free of charge to Mauer’s surprise and appreciation. Mauer has given a lot to this country, suffering injuries fighting in the Pacific. Friedt did a great job in repaying him for his service.
• Cheers to Outback Steakhouse for its Christmas gift of a steak dinner to the Baytown Police and Fire Departments. Proprietor Aaron Nilson came up with the idea and provided 150 free steak dinners to first responders who were able to come to Outback Steakhouse and those on work assignments. Outback Steakhouse has also been a friend to local schools, serving as a sponsor to athletic tournaments.
• Cheers to Goose Creek CISD FFA students for a successful outing in the Gulf Coast District Leadership Development Event. A number of students advanced to Area and one advanced to state competition. Students from Robert E. Lee, Ross S. Sterling, Goose Creek Memorial and Stuart Career Tech all took part in the event. Great job to all those who took part in the event.
