Donald Trump accepted assistance from Russia in the 2016 campaign and he is doing it again in the 2020 election when he pushed the President of Ukraine to investigate his political rival. He bribed that country by withholding military aid that Ukraine needed to help them with their war with Russia.

Only the most cynical partisan can make the case that that behavior by the President was OK. You need to look no further than the transcript summary the White House released for proof that he did it. He extorted Ukraine and it was an abuse of his power — end of story. Those who support Donald Trump with blind devotion cannot spin, twist, contort or skew this fact. For this action, he deserves to be impeached and any congressman who doesn’t vote for impeachment should not be re-elected.

Hey Melissa this whole Impeachment has been and continues to be a sham looking for a crime. They haven't found one yet. Neither articles are a crime. A President has absolute power and can withhold aid from anybody at anytime. Every President has done it. Obstruct congress? No such crime exist. Do a little research and your right about reelection as you will see who will lose their seat over this silly impeachment.

Frank

N/A, still clueless I see. There does not have to be a "crime", just evidence that Trump has violated his oath to protect and defend the constitution. When he obstructs congress, that is a violation of the constitution. When he tries to coerce a foreign power to interfere in our elections for his own personal political gain, that is abuse of power and a violation of his oath. I see that once again, you end your post with a prediction. Your last prediction was "just wait until the IG's report comes out". How did that turn out?

Donald Trump did not accept assistance from Russia in the 2016 campaign. Any non-partisan voter realized this early on in the kangaroo court proceedings. I am surprised, shocked, and astounded that voters who heard all the “evidence” think he pushed the President of Ukraine to investigate his political rival. As President of the USA, it is well within his right to question why the VP's unqualified son is sitting on the board of a known corrupt company and receiving an enormous salary plus bonus'. Every leader in the world expects something from the United States. I believe we need to put a big fat hook in every ham we hand over, but that is just me. We elected Trump to drain the swamp and the dirty denizens will now begin to attack each other like starving rats on a sinking ship.

Only the voter capable of sifting and ruminating evidence (and in this case, the lack there of) can make the case that that behavior by the President was in the interests of our country. You need to look no further than the transcript summary the White House released for proof that he didn't do it. He did not extort Ukraine based on transcripts and President Zelensky's testimony — end of story. Those who support the failing carpet-bagging Democratic Party with blind devotion cannot spin, twist, contort or skew this fact. For this impeachment to be passed is a travesty that damages the USA much more than Trump's silly tweets. He deserves to be President and any congressperson who voted for impeachment should not be re-elected.

Bert, Donald Trump DID accept assistance from Russia in the 2016 campaign. The only question is - did he solicit that assistance? “Russia, if you’re listening” plus more than 100 contacts between Trump’s campaign and Russians suggest strongly that there was collusion.

Why the Bidens? It’s not unusual or illegal for the children of well-known people to benefit from their last name instead of their abilities. Trump’s own children are an obvious examples. There has to be tens of thousands such situations. But Trump focused on just the Bidens. Are you afraid to ask the obvious question?

Drain the swamp and replace it with what? Criminals? So far 6 Trump associates have been convicted of crimes. Compare that with the number of Obama associates convicted of crimes….zero.

I think you have reading comprehension problems. I read the transcript, and when he said, “I need you to do us a favor” it was crystal clear that he was using the power of the presidency to solicit interference in the 2020 election. Trump’s advisers knew there was a problem with his request and they testified under oath to that fact.

If Trump is so innocent as you claim, why doesn’t he allow his staff members to testify to that innocence? Maybe it’s the same reason that he has gone to such great lengths to hide his tax returns. He’s got something to hide.

The tide is turning. The magazine “Christianity Today”, the most influential publication in the evangelical community, opined that Trump should be removed from office. Here are a few quotes:

1. “The president of the United States attempted to use his political power to coerce a foreign leader to harass and discredit one of the president’s political opponents. That is not only a violation of the Constitution; more importantly, it is profoundly immoral.”

2. “None of the president’s positives can balance the moral and political danger we face under a leader of such grossly immoral character”.

3. "To the many evangelicals who continue to support Mr. Trump in spite of his blackened moral record, we might say this: Remember who you are and whom you serve. Consider how your justification of Mr. Trump influences your witness to your Lord and Savior. Consider what an unbelieving world will say if you continue to brush off Mr. Trump's immoral words and behavior in the cause of political expediency."

4. "That he should be removed, we believe, is not a matter of partisan loyalties but loyalty to the Creator of the Ten Commandments."

5. "We believe the impeachment hearings have made it absolutely clear, in a way the Mueller investigation did not, that President Trump has abused his authority for personal gain and betrayed his constitutional oath. The impeachment hearings have illuminated the president's moral deficiencies for all to see."

6. Trump is “a near perfect example of a human being who is morally lost and confused.”

Supporting conservative values is legitimate. Supporting Donald Trump to advance conservative values is immoral.

Hey frankie the IG report turned out very good. You see Comey and Brennan crawfishing? Did you read it frankie? It's very damaging and a nice prelude to Durham's. FISA finally spoke up and confirmed the FBI abuse. The IG referred charges on Comey to the Justice Dept earlier. They chose not to charge him, did you miss that part? Comey may not be so lucky with the Durham report. The Senate will determine if any crimes were committed in the impeachment trial. The house finished the first stage of impeachment. Surely you would bet on a sure thing wouldn't you frankie? No way President Trump gets reelected right? Looks like an easy $1000.00 frankie. Let me know.

Frank

Well N/A, You divert again. You are avoiding any mention of the main purpose of the IG’s report. The IG was investigating your leader’s claim that that the FBI did not have a legitimate reason to investigate Russian involvement in the 2016 election. The second purpose of the investigation was to check into claims that the FBI was biased against Trump as part of his insane paranoid ‘deep state’ conspiracy theory. The Result. The IG report said that the FBI had good reason to start the investigation and that there was absolutely no bias shown by the agency. The IG said the bureau made serious errors in regard to the FISA applications, but that was not the main thrust of the report. Bottom line, the FBI did its job. The Russians helped Trump get elected, and you don’t care.

As for the bet, I like a sure thing. I will bet you $1000 that Trump loses the popular vote in 2020. How about it?

N/A, if it doesn’t strain your reading ability too much, you should read the editorial in the “Christianity Today” magazine. Or you could just read my abbreviated version in my response to Bert above.

Russell5150

You are only making this comment because it’s “popular” in the media to do so. And remember President Trump was elected into office and He will be elected for another term!

Frank

Russell, "popular" in the mainstream news media = "truth". The larger question in my mind is why anyone would support a man who has told us more than 15,000 lies since assuming office.

Russell5150

You telling me and everyone else that Obama was always truthful. Our economy hasn’t been this strong since President Regan held office.

Frank

Russell, I think all presidents stretch the truth sometimes, but none have even come close to 15,413 lies in 3 years. Obama’s lie count over 8 years was 18 according to the NY Times fact checker. Are you saying the truth-telling record is the same for both Obama and Trump?

As for the economy, Trump deserves credit for continuing the economic growth that started during the Obama administration, but Trump did not INVENT economic growth as he wants us to believe. For example, the GDP growth has averaged 2.6 percent under Trump, compared to 2.4 percent during Obama’s second term. On the negative side, Trump’s tax cut for the rich has contributed to an annual deficit approaching 1 trillion dollars.
