Katherine Carter passed away peacefully at her home. A family Celebration of Life will be held at a later date in Cat Spring, Texas.
Katherine Carter, 89, was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to her family. She passed away peacefully at her home in Many, Louisiana surrounded by her family.
She was born in Nacogdoches, Texas on July 4th 1928. She moved to Baytown, Texas in 1952 where she resided for over 50 years. During that time she was employed for over 30 years at General Telephone Company.
She was preceded in death by her infant son, Terry Glenn Rao; husband, James Carter; parents, Calvin Henry and Nina Elizabeth (Banks) Bowden; sister, Lorie Washburn; brothers, Charlie Bowden and Max Bowden.
She is survived by her daughters, Lynn Truxillo and husband Nick of Cat Spring, Texas and Susan Rao Hills and husband Chris of Many, Louisiana; step son, Bob Rao and wife Pat of Lexington, Texas; brother Calvin H. Bowden, Jr. and wife Ilaverne of Nacogdoches, Texas; grandchildren, Allen Smith of Houston, Texas, Richard Smith and wife Karen of Willis, Texas, and Amy Davis of Many, Louisiana; great grandchildren Cody Smith and wife Stephanie, Kayden Smith, Brandon Smith, Richard Smith, Jr., Tyler Smith, Ethan Goldberg and Ayden Goldberg; great-great grandchildren Kingston Lynn Smith and Richlynn Elizabeth Smith; along with a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
A special mention and appreciation is made to her niece and best friends, Joy Woodall and husband David of Baytown, Texas, and David Washburn and wife Joyce of Houston, Texas, and their families.
A family Celebration of Life will be held at a later date in Cat Spring, Texas.
