Ester Mae Levy passed away on Tuesday, September 10, 2019. Visitation will be held Saturday, September 21, 2019 from 9 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. with funeral services at 11 a.m. with Pastor C. Carter Sr. officiating at True Vine Missionary Baptist Church, 404 Oak Ave. Crosby, TX 77532. Interment will be at Sterling White Cemetery, 11011 Crosby Lynchburg Rd., Highlands, TX 77562
On October 22, 1955 bringing with it a new day and a new life Ester Mae Levy was born to Cleveland and Euella Levy. Her formative childhood years were spent in Barrett Station-Crosby, Texas where she attended Charles R. Drew Elementary and Crosby High School. She later received her associate degree from Southwestern Business School.
In her youth she became a member of the True Vine Missionary Baptist Church in Crosby, Texas where she faithfully served until God called her home. Ester’s passion for serving others manifested in every part of her life. She was employed in the manufacturing industry as s supervisor for over 15 years before fulfilling roles to support those desiring to re-integrate into society as well as those needing home health care.
She was actively involved in the community supporting various youth and senior organizations including Joy Ministries and Rock of Ages Church in Crosby, Texas. At her home church, Ester was a willing servant accepting any call to serve anyone. She served side by side with her oldest daughter for over 10 years focusing on youth programs specifically for younger girls, holding tea parties for “Little Princesses”, hosting weekend retreats for her “God’s Girls” and chaperoning praise dance. She was a faithful Sunday School and Baptism class teacher.
There were no limitations to what she would take responsibility in doing. If she saw a need she would simply get up and do what needed to be done. Over the last several years Ester held the post of Women’s Mission Society President introducing the push-pull mentorship philosophy for ladies to pair up and support each other and monthly birthday fellowship gatherings. She was a believer in encouragement and often shared inspirational thoughts and prayers to anyone God laid on her heart.
On Tuesday, September 10, 2019, the Lord called upon Ester and she departed this life. Her passing brought sadness to the hearts of all who loved her.
To cherish her memories, Ester Mae Levy Stevens leaves tho daughters Kelsey Victor and Kenya Stevens-Thomas (Quinnie Thomas), four grandchildren Kendrick Young, Kennedy Young, Devyn Thomas and Dakota Thomas; five sister Kathra Phillips (Richmond, Jr.), Rose Haggerty (Arthur), Olevia Johnson, Dandy Cullins (Ross, Sr.), Margie Dearbonne; and two brothers Cleveland Levy, Jr. and James Levy (Wanda); three godsons Christopher Levy, James Edwards Jr., Gavin Jackson; three great-aunts and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
