Pedro “Papi” Paulino Murray passed away Wednesday, August 29, 2018. His family will receive friends at Navarre Funeral Home Wednesday, September 5, 2018, beginning at 5 p.m. with a rosary to follow at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be Thursday, September 6, 2018, at 10 a.m. at Navarre Funeral Home with David Smith officiating. Pedro “Papi” Paulino Murray, 80, of Baytown was born June 22, 1938, in Victoria de las Tunas, Cuba and passed away Wednesday, August 29, 2018, at home. He emigrated from Cuba to the United States in 1960 after Fidel Castro’s rise to power during the Cuban Revolution. He loved his job and was the fleet mechanic for Hunton Services. He was self-educated and full of knowledge. When something required a difficult fix, he used what he referred to as “Cuban Ingenuity” to come up with a solution to the problem. He was an honorable and trustworthy man who loved God and his family.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Rose Murray; daughter, Sonya Murray; son-in-law, Lee Bretos; and numerous brothers and sisters.

He is survived by his wife, Debra Thibodaux Murray; daughter, Alicia Murray-Bretos from former marriage to Magaly Murray; sisters and brothers-in-law, Ana and Manolo Cambrils, Luisa Carrasco, and Betty and Alberto Calvo; grandchildren, Jennifer McGinnis-Burt and husband Doug, Alexis and Michael Haynes, Jill and Andrew Resendez, and Evan Paul Bretos; great grandchildren, Mason and Carter Resendez and soon to arrive, Hudson Lee Haynes; stepchildren, Richard and Rebecca Hernandez and Andrea Bent; and four step grandchildren, Ariana Hernandez, Nicholas Bent, Richard Hernandez, Jr. and Rayden Hernandez. He is also survived by loving nieces, nephews, in-laws, and a host of long-time friends.
